12-01-2026

Review of Activities, Achievements, and Strategic Outlook

Introduction

The Algarve Interclub Annual Management Committee Report provides a summary of the activities and strategic direction of the committee during the 2025 season. This report aims to inform member clubs, about the work undertaken and plans going forward.

Committee Composition

The Management Committee for the year comprised Eric Innes, Graham Miller and as Treasurer, Mark Foot. Following our appeal, at the last Annual General Meeting for new members to volunteer, we were able to Co-opt to the Committee, David McBride of Tavira Golf Club. David has been able to make a valuable contribution and will seek re-appointment at the AGM.

Key Activities

All matches both in the divisional leagues and the knock-out cup were completedsuccessfully, within The Spirit of Interclub, with no issues referred to your committee.

The principal results were as follows:

  • Interclub Champions – Vale de Lobo successfully defended their title won in 2024 and the Runners Up in Division 1 were Boavista
  • Division 2 winners were Levante and the Runners Up were Tavira
  • Division 3 winners were Laranjal and the Runners Up were Serra da Monchique

Knockout Cup. We are grateful to Tavira for hosting what turned out to be an exhilarating final between Levante and Laranjal. Following a play off, Laranjal secured the trophy.

The Finals Day 2025 event took place at Vale do Lobo. The feedback from all participants was very positive. The weather was excellent and members enjoyed a fine course and excellent hospitality, in what is the only opportunity during the year, for all clubs to celebrate together.

Rules Review

Your Management Committee has carried out a full review of the rules and propose to have these approved at the forthcoming AGM. A full copy of the revised rules are set out in the attached appendix. The rules of competition remain unchanged. An index to the rules is provided and the rules are set out in a more logical way.
Clubs ceasing to be members, for whatever reason, will have no claim on Interclub funds. Clubs applying to join or rejoin will be required to pay, in addition to an annual subscription, an entry fee equivalent to the then current annual subscription.

Digital Update

The Interclub Administration has relied for fifteen years on a website initially created in 2010 and generously administered and hosted free of charge by Lewis Creative Consultants in Scotland, a friendly gesture for which the league extends its sincere gratitude. Your Management Committee determined it was time for renewal due to several factors: the site was built in MicroSoft ASP.net v4 coding language updated to ASP.Net technology structures 10 times since going live in 2010, it lacks mobile and tablet compatibility, the Committee’s wishes to expand its scope to manage the Knockout Cup, the preference for managing and hosting the site in Portugal.

In 2025 WowDigital from Almancil quoted a price of €1750 to rewrite the current league management site, which is now scheduled for launch following the 2026 AGM. Throughout 2026, the league plans to work with the developers to incorporate the Knockout Cup into the fixture and results reporting system, allocating approximately €300 for this development. Moving forward, the only anticipated charges are the annual site registration and hosting fees, projected to be around €100 per year.

Financial

The Income and Expenditure Account records, a small deficit for the current year. This is largely caused by website development costs, together with the significant subsidy of €2361 towards Finals Day costs. The subsidy at current levels equates to 56.2% of annual subscriptions. We consider that a discussion, on this level of subsidy, should be held by member clubs, at the forthcoming AGM. We consider that the current level of subsidy can be maintained. This would allow us to meet the budgeted operating costs provided, that website costs are financed separately. On that basis, we will propose at the AGM the annual subscription be maintained at current levels.

We will propose that a website development charge of €100 will be levied on member clubs to cover the full delivery cost of the new website.

Conclusion

The Management Committee expresses sincere gratitude to all clubs for their support, throughout the year. We consider that the updates to Interclub rules and the launch of the new website will provide a strong foundation for many years ahead.
